San Pedro Local Transit

San Pedro has different forms of local transit for both the visitor and the resident. There is local bus service with the Metro ( Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority ) and the LADOT (City of Los Angeles, Department of Transportation). The San Pedro Downtown Trolley is a free rubber tired trolley that covers Downtown San Pedro and the San Pedro Waterfront. The Trolley runs Saturday & Sunday from 12 noon-8:00 p.m., every 30 minutes in a continuous loop.

San Pedro’s local transit links riders to an array of connections to the Greater Southern California Area with it’s many attractions. The Metro has both local and express bus lines serving San Pedro and the Harbor Area. The LADOT operates both a local Dash San Pedro bus and Commuter Express Line 142 service to Long Beach. Both the LADOT and the Metro service operate 365 days a year including holidays.

LADOT

Dash San Pedro starts at Western Avenue and 25th Street in San Pedro and covers a great portion of San Pedro with the line ending on Western Avenue at the Park Plaza Shopping Center (Western Avenue and Park Western Drive.). You can easily transfer between the Dash San Pedro and the Commuter Express Line 142 at several different points. the Dash San Pedro also has easy connections to the Metro bus lines 205, 246, 450, and 550. Dash San Pedro operates every 20 minutes in each direction on weekdays and Saturdays and every 30 minutes on Sundays and holidays. The Dash San Pedro Live Map, the DASH San Pedro, Loop, Stops.

Commuter Express Line 142 starts at Port O’ Call with stops in San Pedro on both 7th and Gaffey Streets and ends at the Long Beach Transit Mall. The Long Beach Transit Mall has bus and light rail connections to both Los Angeles and Orange Counties as well as Long Beach. Transfers can be made to other Commuter Express routes and to/from most other fixed route transit services in LA County by buying a $.25 Interagency Transfer when you pay your Commuter Express fare. ($.10 for seniors/persons with disabilities.) Interagency Transfers are not valid on DASH. Some transfers may require an additional cash fare. Metro

Metro Silver Line The Silver Line 910 and Silver Line Express 950X share the same stations and stops in Downtown LA and on the I-10 Freeway. However, the Silver Line Express 950X makes fewer stops on the I-110 Freeway to allow for faster service to and from San Pedro, Downtown LA and El Monte. Metro Silver Line information is here.

Metro Bus Line 205 runs from 13th and Gaffey Streets to the Imperial Wilmington Station at Imperial Highway and Wilmington Avenue in Watts/Willowbrook Area. There are connections to both the Green and Blue Metro light rail lines at the Imperial Wilmington Station. Metro Bus Line 246 runs from Gaffey and Paseo Del Mar Streets to the Artesia Transit Center at 182nd St and the Harbor Freeway in the Gardena Area. There are connections to Torrance City Transit, Gardena Municipal Bus Lines, and the Carson North-South Shuttle buses. The are also connection to many Metro bus lines including Express Lines and the Los Angeles Metro Silver Line. Metro Express Bus Line 550 runs from 7th Street and Patton Avenue, in front of the Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center, to Expositon Park and USC in Los Angeles. There are connections to the Green Metro rail line at the Harbor Freeway Green Line station and to the Expo Metro line at the Expo Park/USC station. The frequency varies from every 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the time of day and day of the week. Weekends and Holidays the 550 line terminates at the Artesia Transit Center.. Other Buses

Amtrak Bus Service From Bakersfield via Union Station in Los Angeles serves San Pedro several times a day with stops at the Catalina Express Terminal (SPD) and the Public Library (SPO), 931 S Gaffey Street, San Pedro, CA 90731. Amtrak Bus schedulemap, and fare info.

Santa Barbara Airbus provides bus from Goleta, Santa Barbara and Carpinteria to the San Pedro (Port of Los Angeles) and Long Beach cruise terminals via LAX. Bus service operates only on cruise ship arrival or departure dates. Schedule, map and fare information.

Transportation Assistance Programs

Access Services is “The consolidated Transportation Services Agency (CTSA) for Los Angeles County”. “Access is the service name of the ADA Complementary Paratransit service for functionally disabled individuals in Los Angeles County. Access transportation service is available for any ADA paratransit eligible individual to any location within ¾ of a mile of any fixed bus operated by the Los Angeles County public fixed route bus operators and within ¾ of a mile around METRO Rail stations during the hours that the systems are operational.” (Quotes from Access Services web site)

Cityride “is a transportation assistance program for individuals age 65 or older and qualified disabled persons in the City of Los Angeles and select areas of Los Angeles County. The program offers Cityride participants reduced costs for the purchase of City of Los Angeles permitted taxi rides or Cityride Dial-A-Ride services.” (Quote from Cityride web site)
