Recreational Diving in the San Pedro – Los Angeles Harbor Area

There are many excellent dive sites that are near the San Pedro, CA – LA Harbor area. The nearby Channel Islands have some of the best diving sites in the world. 22nd Street Landing and L A Harbor Sportfishing are both homeport to many charter diving boats that are the finest on the Pacific Coast. Several Dive Shops are located in San Pedro.

There is a boat ramp at Cabrillo Beach where you can launch your own boat. The boat lauch ramp is best reached from Shoshonean Road off Via Cabrillo Marina. It is open from 5:30 AM to 10:30 PM and has trailer parking, boat wash facilities and restrooms. Parking is $2.00/hr for vehicle and boat trailer to a maximum of $15.00 per day. There is no extra charge for the boat launch ramp. Vehicles with a boat trailer attached may be left over night or for several days at $15.00 per day. Vehicles without a boat trailer attach cannot be left over night and may be towed if left past 10 PM. Payment is made in cash.

The beach is run by the County of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. The boat ramp is run by the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. Here is a Map showing the location of Cabrillo Beach.
