Windsurfing in San Pedro, CA – Los Angeles Harbor

San Pedro offers year around windsurfing opportunities with constant ocean breezes. Its unique juxtaposition of cliffs, hills and harbor combine to create an area of robust breezes. This area, known as “Hurricane Gulch” is a favorite with windsurfers. San Pedro has areas within the breakwater that are perfect for the novice and also has open water areas outside the breakwater that challenge the expert.

Cabrillo Beach is world famous for it’s quality windsurfing opportunities and was home to the Cabrillo Beach Windsurf Enduro. The beach is open from 5:30 AM to 10:30 PM and has parking, boat wash facilities, showers, and restrooms. Parking is free for the first 20 minutes, then $1.00/hr to maximun of $9.00 /day. Payment is made in cash or with a credit card.

The outer beach is run by the County of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. The inner beach is run by the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. Below is a map showing the location of Cabrillo Beach. Rental equipment and supplies are available nearby.
